Barcelona Soccer Club (Part 10)

Exit Núñez, go in Laporta (2000–2010)
The departures of Núñez and van Gaal were not anything in evaluation to that of Luís Figo. As well as association vice-captain, Figo had become a cult champion and was advised by Catalans to be one of their own. Barça followers were distraught by Figo's conclusion to connect arch-rivals Real Madrid, and throughout later visits to the Camp Nou, he was granted an exceedingly hostile reception. Upon his first come back a piglet's head and a full container of whiskey were hurled at him from the crowd. President Núñez was restored by Joan Gaspart in 2000, and the three years he was in ascribe, glimpsed the association down turn and managers came and went; van Gaal assisted a second term. Gaspart did not motivate self-assurance off the area either and in 2003, he and van Gaal resigned.
After the frustration of the Gaspart era, the association rebound back with the blend of a new juvenile leader, Joan Laporta, and a juvenile new supervisor, previous Dutch contestant Frank Rijkaard. On the area, an influx of worldwide players blended with home-grown Spanish players directed to the club's come back to success. Barça won La Liga and the Supercopa de España in 2004–05, and the team's midfielder, Ronaldinho, won the FIFA World Player of the Year award.
