In the 2005–06 time of the year, Barcelona recurring their association and Supercup successes. In the Champions League, Barça trounce English association Arsenal 2–1 in the final. Trailing 1–0 to a 10-man Arsenal and with less than 15 minutes left, they came back to win 2–1 for the club's first European Cup triumph in 14 years. They took part in the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup, but were struck by a late aim in the last contrary to Brazilian edge Internacional. Despite being the favourites and beginning powerfully, Barcelona completed the 2006–07 time of the year without trophies. A pre-season U.S. trip and open feud between the contestant Samuel Eto'o and Rijkaard was subsequent accused for the need of trophies.  In La Liga, Barça were in first location for much of the time of the year, but their inconsistency in the new year permitted Real Madrid to overtake them to become champions. The 2007–08 time of the year was failed, and as Barça failed to emulate the achievement of preceding years Barça B youth supervisor Josep Guardiola took over Rijkaard's obligations at the deduction of the season.

Josep Guardiola conveyed with him the now well renowned tiki-taka method of play which he had been educated throughout his time in the Barcelona youth teams. This is shown by the dominance of ownership and overtake correctness that his group reaches.
